  • Paul McSweeney will be teaching this class to educate massage therapists about Neuromuscular Stretching Techniques of the Upper Body.  This technique works especially well for pain management and palliative care. He uses his martial arts background to delve into stretch and release movements as well as positional release. This class will focus on the upper body. Paul will also help therapists with ergonomic/body mechanics for lifting clients. We suggest that students have taken a Sports Massage Class before this workshop or review upper body anatomy prior to attending. This class is on June 26th, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the South Dakota School of Massage therapy, Inc. 100 N. Krohn Place, Sioux Falls, SD 57103. 8 CEUs.  NCBTMB approved class. All materials are provided for this class.
  • Massage for Couples class is a brief introduction to massage therapy.  Tuition of $399 is for 2 students. Due to the intimate nature of massage therapy, students must know each other before the class. Students can be friends, spouses, family, etc. Students will be practicing massage therapy techniques on their companion only. Draping, modesty and respect will be always required during class. The classroom is equipped with curtains for privacy. The maximum class size is 5 couples. The class will be taught from 9:00a.m.-6:00p.m. at the South Dakota School of Massage Therapy, 100 N. Krohn Place, Sioux Falls, SD 57103.  All materials needed for this class are provided-One booklet with space for notes for each student and professional massage cream to take home. Taught by Heather Herrick. This class is NOT for CEU credit for Licensed Massage Therapists. This class in no way qualifies a student to perform professional massage therapy. Class Outline- 9:00am-Introductions, class etiquette, definitions, 4 pillars of massage therapy 10:00am-Sanitation, supplies for massage, positioning, ergonomics, topicals, environment, endangerment sites, resources 11:00am-Techniques-Effluerage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, vibration, trigger points 12:00pm-Lunch 1:00pm-Finish slide deck, class demo 2:00pm-6:00pm-Students trade massages with intermittent demos
  • This class will cover safe application of essential oils to massage clients.  We will go over applications, chemistry and uses.  In addition to that, we will cover blending essential oils and homemade scrubs.  This class is issued a user manual for essential oils and credible resources for continued study.  8 CEUs.  The class is from 9 am to 6 pm. The class will be taught at the South Dakota School of Massage Therapy, 100 North Krohn Place, Sioux Falls, SD 57103. All materials are provided for this class. Taught by Heather Herrick.
  • MLD is massage that specifically addresses edema and swelling.  We will be studying the anatomy of the lymphatic system and the application of MLD for various populations. NCBTMB 8 CEUs.  This class is from 9 am to 6 pm.  The class will be taught at the South Dakota School of Massage Therapy, 100 North Krohn Place, Sioux Falls, SD 57103.   • This class covers the essentials of working with athletes.  We will cover  supplies and preparation for working events.  The class will be educated in PNF stretching for sports injuries.  The students will be provided a booklet for further study. NCBTMB-8 CEUs.  The class is from 9 am to 6 pm. The class will be taught at the South Dakota School of Massage Therapy, 100 North Krohn Place, Sioux Falls, SD 57103.   • This class covers everything that you need to know about using stones in your practice.  We will cover equipment, safety and marketing techniques for stone massage.  Hot stone massage is especially useful for clients with fibromyalgia and chronic pain conditions. .  8 CEUs.  The class is from 9 am to 6 pm.  The class is taught at the South Dakota School of Massage Therapy, 100 North Krohn Place, Sioux Falls, SD 57103.   • This class will focus on applying deep pressure that is safe for clients and massage therapists.  Proper ergonomics and skillful application of pressure are the essentials for an expertly executed deep tissue massage.
